My name is Donald Brunton. Origonaly from Maine, I found my way to Ilhabela, Brazil on a small sailboat with my Brazilian wife Malu and our then three year old daughter, Isabella.
I set sail out of Cape Elizabeth, Maine 12 years ago with the idea of setting-up shop out of my wife s native home. As a woodworker, I was captivated by the vast variety of incedibly beautiful wood species available on the open market, but at the same time, as an eco-minded guy, a bit leary as to the sorce of so much freshly cut hard wood.
My current furniture line is the result of this inner confict of interests. I spend time searching the so called 'demolition stores for old doors or window frames which I select based on rarity and re-workability. I then reprocess the timbers in my little island studio and PRESTO! an old door combines with an old window frame and becomes a new coffee table and a new mini-bar.
I work well with architects and inteior designers, just send me your concept sketches with dementions and we can open a dialog as to wood selection and relative costing.
